I’m DeAndre Favors, founder of Altamaha Tech, a cybersecurity and IT training and consulting practice based in Evans, Georgia. I help organizations strengthen their technical capabilities and help professionals build skills they can put to work.
I grew up in Detroit, where my first passion was herpetology and biology. I spent my summers studying at Cranbrook, and it was there that I was first introduced to computer science. That spark stayed with me after high school, and I carried it into the U.S. Army, where I spent more than 20 years leading communications and information systems teams. I managed up to 250 personnel, supported networks serving thousands of users, and served as an IT Section Chief and Information Assurance Security Officer. As a senior Army course instructor, I led a team that trained more than 2,500 students in IT, network security, and communications. That experience shaped what I enjoy most: teaching people how to do the work, and why it matters.
Since leaving active duty, I’ve built cybersecurity programs in partnership with EC-Council, trained hundreds of employees through corporate partnerships, and helped professionals earn the industry certifications that open doors. Today I lead a team of trainers, develop custom coursework, manage a Cisco Networking Academy site, build hands-on labs in Cisco Modeling Labs, and serve as a Pearson VUE exam manager.
I hold a master’s degree in Cyber Security and Information Assurance and am pursuing a Doctor of Education in Education Innovation at Augusta University. I also hold 15 IT certifications, including CISSP, CASP+, CEH, CNDA, CompTIA Cloud+, Security+, and Network+, and I’m a Certified EC-Council Instructor.
Whether I’m helping a company strengthen its security skills, guiding someone toward a first certification, or designing a lab that makes a difficult concept click, my approach stays the same: make it practical, make it real, and make it stick.
If you’re looking to build your team’s skills or prepare for a certification, I’d like to hear from you.
